Process for Copyright Registration

The registrar must receive an application (including all the particulars and a statement of the particulars) in FORM IV format along with the required fees (mentioned in the Schedule 2 of the act.). Separate applications are required for each work.

Following process must be followed in order get the copyright registration

  • The application for copyright registration must be submitted in the appropriate forms that identify the work.
  • Depending on the nature of work, it may be necessary to submit a separate copyright application.
  • The applicant must sign the paperwork, and the Advocate must file the application under the applicant's name under which the POA was executed.

  • The diary number will be assigned once the online application has been submitted.
  • Within the 30-day waiting period, the copyright examiner examines the application for potential objections and other inconsistencies.
  • A notification will be sent if there is an objection, and the objection must be compiled within 30 days of the notice's issuing. The examiner may request a hearing with both parties.
  • Only after the discrepancy has been resolved or there is no objection, the Copyright Office will issue the registration certificate
